Section 129a
Cursing of the fig tree having leaves but no figs
Bethany, near Jerusalem → Jerusalem
Matthew 21:18-19a
Mark 11:12-14
18Early in the morning, as Jesus was returning to the city, he was hungry. 19aSeeing a lone fig tree by the road, he came to it and found nothing on it but leaves.
12On the next day, as they went out from Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13Seeing in the distance a fig tree that had leaves, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. 14In response Jesus said to the fig tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it.
