| 14Later Jesus appeared to the eleven as they were reclining at the table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who had seen him after he had risen. | 36As they were saying these things, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 37But they were startled and terrified, thinking they had seen a spirit. 38Then he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why are doubts arising in your hearts? | 19In the evening of that day, the first day of the week, when the disciples were gathered together with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” |
| 39Look at my hands and my feet and see that it is I myself. Touch me and look at me, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” 40After saying this, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41And while they were still amazed and in disbelief because of their joy, he said to them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42So they gave him a piece of broiled fish and some honeycomb. 43And he took them and ate in their presence. | 20aAfter saying this, he showed them his hands and his side, | |
| 20band the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. 21Again Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.” 22After saying this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23If you remit the sins of any, their sins are remitted0x3B if you retain the sins of any, their sins are retained.” 24Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25So the other disciples said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will certainly not believe.” | ||
