Twelve apostles chosen

A mountain near the Sea of Galilee

Mark 3:13-19

Luke 6:12-16

13Afterward Jesus went up on the mountain and called for those whom he wanted, and they came to him. 14He appointed twelve so that they might be with him and so that he might send them out to preach 15and to have authority to heal diseases and cast out demons.

12One day soon afterward Jesus went out to the mountain to pray, and spent the whole night in prayer to God. 13When daybreak came, he called his disciples and chose twelve from among them, whom he also named apostles:

16He appointed Simon (whom he gave the name Peter); 17James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James (whom he gave the name Boanerges, which means, Sons of Thunder); 18Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, Thaddaeus, Simon the Cananite, 19and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. Then they entered a house,

14Simon (whom he also named Peter) and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, 15Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon (who was called the Zealot), 16Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot (who became a traitor).
